Overview

The Michichi Solar Project is a 25 MWac solar facility in operation in Starland County, Alberta, just north of Drumheller. In March 2021, Capstone purchased the early-stage project from Samsung Renewables, and is responsible for the day-to-day planning and management of the project, including overseeing final planning, financing, construction, and operation of the project, which achieved commercial operation in March 2023.

Michichi Solar will generate enough emissions-free energy for more than 6,000 Alberta homes annually and sell 100% of its electricity and environmental attributes to Keyera Corporation for the next 15 years. The Sawridge First Nation, a Cree people that is an original signatory to Treaty No. 8, is an equity partner in Michichi Solar.
