On February 11, 2022, the Nova Scotia government issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for 1,100 GWh of new renewable energy supply. Capstone is proposing to develop an expansion to our existing Glen Dhu Wind Farm in Pictou County, Nova Scotia, which features 27 turbines with 60 MW of electricity generation capacity. This is enough emissions free Energy to power more than 18,000 Nova Scotia homes every year.

The proposed Glen Dhu 2 Wind Farm would have a generation capacity of 50 to 100 MW and connect to the Nova Scotia Power grid at either the same location as the existing facility, or to the grid at a point further to the south. The expansion project will build on the success of the existing Glen Dhu Wind Farm, which has been in operation since 2011. During construction in 2010, the project employed 300+ local labourers and tradespeople, and supported local economic activity. Since beginning operations 11 years ago, the project has paid almost $3.5m in local taxes to Pictou and Antigonish County's.

Capstone is submitting a bid into the Rate Base Procurement process to acquire new renewable energy supply on behalf of the province of Nova Scotia in May 2022, and successful projects are expected to be announced in August 2022, at which time Capstone will notify local stakeholder of any next steps as it relates to the proposed project.
