Hluey Lakes Hydro
Overview
The Hluey Lakes facility is located on Tsenaglode Creek in northwest British Columbia. The facility captures the energy of water to generate electricity. Water for the facility is stored by means of dams on Tsenaglode Creek, which drains Sitsa and Tuttiduch Lakes into the Tanzilla River, and Hluey Creek, which drains Hluey Lake into the Tanzilla River. The dams provide an approximately five-kilometre square reservoir for the facility. With the use of a single, 3 MW Pelton turbine/generator, the facility converts the energy of falling water into electrical energy, which is then sold to BC Hydro for distribution to BC Hydro’s clients in the community of Dease Lake.
